Mission & Code of Ethics
MISSION
Clinical Consultation Services was established in January 1998 to help healthcare providers, patients and families address ethical issues in healthcare and clinical research. This is accomplished through educational programs, ethics committee training, policy development, compliance analysis and clinical ethics consultations.
CODE OF ETHICS
I. The privacy of all those involved in a clinical ethics consultation will be protected.
II. Empathy, Compassion, Veracity and Support are guiding virtues in the provision of educational programs and clinical ethics consultations.
III. The development of hospital polices will be guided by the organizational ethics principles of Transparency in Reasoning, Justice in Process, Consistency with the Code of Ethics and Integrity in Clinical Decision-Making.
IV. Continuing education is a fundamental obligation of a clinical ethicist.
V. The clinical ethicist will withdraw from situations where he has a conflict of interests.
